As the chief technology officer and vice president of engineering at Alto, a ride-sharing startup, Jonathan Campos BA’03 made news in Dallas Innovates and The Dallas Morning News for the company’s completion of a $45 million round of Series B financing. An alternative to other ride-sharing companies, Alto hires its drivers as W-2 employees and has its own fleet of branded vehicles. This new round of financing will help them transition to all-electric cars by the end of 2023.

Audio specialist Nagaris Johnson BA’20 was interviewed by The Light Magazine for his work on artist Kanye West’s most recent album, “Donda.” Nagaris was the sound engineer for Tony Williams’ vocals on the album’s namesake track “Donda.” Nagaris was responsible for making Williams’ voice sound like a full-blown choir, recorded right after the singer landed in Dallas from a 16-hour flight.

“It was really surreal, and it still kind of is,” Johnson said in the interview.
