Nancy Gundy Davidson BS’80 and Chuck Davidson MS’80

"Both Nancy and I greatly benefited from our education at UT Dallas. We are fortunate to be in a position now where we can contribute back so that future students may also benefit from this outstanding institution."

Longtime alumni supporters whose gifts have transformed UT Dallas.

Before their names adorned the Davidson-Gundy Alumni Center on the UT Dallas campus, Nancy Gundy BS’80 and Chuck Davidson MS’80 met while students in the Naveen Jindal School of Management. After graduating, the two married and relocated as Chuck’s career in energy began.

The Jindal School graduate served in several positions at Atlantic Richfield Co. and was part of an executive team that started Vastar Resources. Chuck joined Noble Energy Inc. in 2000 and served as chairman and CEO of the Houston-based crude oil and natural gas exploration and production company. He is now a venture partner at Quantum Energy Partners.

A certified CPA, Nancy taught accounting at The University of Texas at Tyler before focusing on family, community and volunteerism. In 2001, the couple made their first major gift toward the construction of the Jindal School, followed by another gift in 2006 to establish four endowed faculty research positions.

The two were named School of Management Distinguished Alumni in 2002 and UT Dallas Distinguished Alumni in 2008.

In 2016, the couple gave $15 million toward the construction of the Davidson-Gundy Alumni Center, which opened in the fall of 2017. The 30,0000-square-foot building offers meeting and conference rooms as well as an event space for the University and the community. Their legacy and dedication to improving education for college students lives on through the Davidson-Gundy Alumni Center, as well as the Jindal School.
