What is your favorite local restaurant?
Yoshi Shabu Shabu! It’s not too far from campus, and as a meat fanatic, I can have as much as I want with fresh veggies and noodles! I highly recommend it on a cold winter day!
How did your college experience help shape who you are?
First off, I did not consider college at all! As a first-generation student, I didn’t give college any serious thought, and I just did what my classmates around me did: apply to colleges. After getting accepted to a few, I committed to UT Dallas at the last minute, which was a wonderful experience. It wasn’t always rainbows and roses, but I had awesome academic advisors that helped me throughout my college experience. Their guidance made me a better student, knowing I had their full support and assistance.
What advice do you have for students beginning their college search?
Start planning ASAP! It is never too early to start preparing for college. Make sure that you research the areas you are interested in and look at the degree plans and the types of classes you will be taking. You don’t have to have it all figured out, but pay attention to deadlines, especially scholarship deadlines.
