Staff Council Scholarship Honors Rick Dempsey - Correction
The UT Dallas Staff Council is pleased to announce the launch of a new staff scholarship award aimed at supporting UT Dallas employees, helping them pursue their education while employed with the University. The scholarship is in honor of Rick Dempsey, who served as associate vice president of the Office of Facilities Management for 12 years. Read more about Dempsey's role in transforming the campus in a News Center article about his retirement.
His fingerprints are, quite literally, all over the campus, and his legacy at UT Dallas continues post-retirement with a $500 staff scholarship award, which will be given twice per year.
Dempsey brought construction and public works experience from a 28-year-long Navy career. Having military service reflected in the staff scholarship was important to him. Among equally qualified applicants, the scholarship gives preference to Facilities Management staff member(s) or employees who have served or are currently serving in the U.S. armed forces.
Any benefits-eligible (50% or more) staff member who is attending UT Dallas may apply. For more information, visit the Staff Council scholarships page.
