Indoor Walking Path

Indoor Walking Path

The University’s Staff Counsel has identified a path along a series of connecting corridors among the buildings on campus that provides a safe, climate-controlled, indoor environment for taking healthy walks.

The longest continuous stretch of this path runs about 4,365 feet (1,330 meters / 0.827 miles / 0.133 kilometers) but there are several opportunities along the path for customizing your own walks of different lengths.

Corporate Challenge

Corporate Challenge

UT Dallas participates in the Corporate Challenge, a 10-week Olympic-style event run by the City of Richardson Parks & Recreation Department. Beginning every year in late August, teams of UTD employees and their families compete against other organizations in sports as varied as bike racing, golf, horseshoes, and swimming. Beyond promoting exercise and good health, the University uses this event to raise money for the Special Olympics of Texas.

Live Healthy America

The Live Healthy Wellness Challenge is a team-centric weight loss and physical activity program that assists in making positive changes leading to a healthier lifestyle. In 2008, UT Dallas was one of the first Texas employers, and the only institution of higher learning, to participate in the program. the University is still active and losing weight while on its way to becoming a healthy, Tier One university.

Interested teams of 2-10 people can register to participate through Live Healthy America. Please contact the Employee Wellness Committee for more information.

    On January 26, Vice President for Administration Dr. Calvin D. Jamison led a walk across campus for students, faculty and staff to kick off the 2012 Wellness Challenge. The Employee Wellness Committee, a co-sponsor of the event, distributed giveaways to participants immediately after the walk.

  • Physical Activity Challenge 2011

    Teams McDermott on the Move and HDP Regulators were the winners in weight-loss and activity. In all, participants lost 211 pounds and engaged in 141,760 minutes of activity. A breakfast was held on April 29 to recognize everyone’s accomplishments.
